About ANZSIC 2006

ANZSIC (Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification) was developed jointly by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and Statistics New Zealand to provide a common framework for collecting, analysing, and publishing industry statistics across both countries.

The 2006 revision (Revision 2) uses a 4-level coding system:

  • Divisions (letter A–S) — 19 broad industry divisions
  • Subdivisions (2-digit) — 86 finer groupings
  • Groups (3-digit) — 214 specific industry groups
  • Classes (4-digit) — 506 classes used in business registration

ANZSIC 2006 was designed around ISIC Rev. 3.1, with partial alignment to ISIC Rev. 4 (used on this site). Where an ANZSIC class maps to a GTIAS industry profile, full analysis is available.
